Quality Assurance

Quality Is a Discipline.
We Practise It Daily

Quality at MCM is a way of working that runs through the institution, from how programmes are designed, to how classes are taught, to how feedback is collected and acted upon. Our framework is built on European Standards and Guidelines (ESG 2015) and a culture of honest self-evaluation.

MCM’s internal Quality Assurance framework is structured around the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG 2015). It covers programme design and approval, ongoing monitoring, periodic review, external examination, staff development, and continuous improvement.

1. Programme Design & Approval
New programmes are developed through a structured process: needs analysis, curriculum design, internal review by the Board of Academics, and external scrutiny by independent academic peers.

2. Annual Programme Monitoring
Every programme produces an Annual Programme Report drawing on student feedback, staff reflection, examination outcomes, External Examiner reports, and progression data. Reports are reviewed by the Board of Academics.

3. Periodic Programme Review
Every programme is subject to comprehensive review at intervals not exceeding five years, involving a self-evaluation document, an external review panel, and a public report with binding recommendations.

4. External Examiners
Every programme has at least one External Examiner, a senior academic from another institution, who reviews assessment standards, samples student work, attends examination boards, and reports annually.

5. Staff Development
Structured induction, annual appraisal, and continuing professional development opportunities, including funding for conferences, training, and qualifications.

6. Student Engagement in Quality

  • Module evaluation surveys at the end of every taught module
  • End-of-semester and annual surveys
  • Student representation on the Board of Academics and programme committees
  • Class representatives in every cohort
  • Student membership of Periodic Review panels

7. Continuous Improvement
Findings from monitoring, review, and feedback feed directly into programme amendments, staff development, resource allocation, and institutional strategy.
